Ken Anderson, current board member, recently started the “unofficial” PDCA Group on Facebook. Facebook is a fast-growing website that connects you with old friends and helps with networking. There are many ways a business can use Facebook to help grow their business, and we hope you’ll take the 2-3 minutes to join Facebook and the PDCA Group.

If you do not have an account with Facebook, the first step is to sign up for one. The membership is free and takes 30 seconds: Sign Up For Facebook. The second step, once you’ve joined is to Join the PDCA Group.

Hope to see you on Facebook soon!

Thanks Ken and David for getting the group more involved in social networking.  I am an advocate of relationship marketing as a cost effective as well as a valuable way to connect with your peers, your clients and your potential customers.  The social media tools like FaceBook, LinkedIn and Twitter to name a few are increasingly important for small businesses.

Happy to see us getting back to closer ties.  Knowing our neighbors is a valuable tool.  Thanks for stepping up Ken.  Looking forward to some great conversation.

Linnea, now the key is figuring out how to use Facebook and other networks to get new clients. It seems good for some networking, but I’m wondering how it all works for clients for a small service business. I think it can work but still puzzled on the “how.”

Thanks David for your comment.  Yes, I agree it is still a bit of a puzzle on how small service business like painting contractors can really capitalize on Social Media as a networking tool to get business, in addition to just connecting with peers.  I do know other businesses who are doing it successfully.  I think the immediate key is that friends refer friends to businesses they like to work with - both online and off - and people spend a lot more time online now than ever before.  In the painting industry I do know of one contractor who got a lead from LinkedIn that he mentioned came from a connection of one of his connections.  I am doing a teleclass on getting started with LinkedIn on March 10 if anyone is interested. By the way, there is a PDCA group on LinkedIn now. I suggest you all may want to hop over and get involved.
